Join us for Groundbreaking Reads! That’s this year’s theme for our summer reading club for adults. Whether you have the time to read several books each week or just a few for the whole summer, you’re welcome to participate. Read whatever you like! Share what you enjoyed (or didn’t) on our blog, and read about the other members’ choices.

Requirements:
Read as many books as you like
Write up a brief review on each one, using our easy form
We will post each review on our online blog; your review can be signed or unsigned

Yes, there is a prize each week when you check in at the Reference Desk
After your fourth visit, fill out a raffle ticket for a chance at the Grand Prize

Enjoy a day on your own, via the Long Island Railroad. Non-refundable round-trp ticket cost is $8.75 per person, (children under 5 free) payable in cash only. You will be taking the 9:33am train out of Lindenhurst, so please be at the train station office at (9:00am to meet a library staff member who will give you your return ticket in exchange for your library receipt. You may return anytime you wish. Prices are valid for these dates only.

Overnight Bus Trip: Providence & Newport, Rhode Island

2 Days, 1 Night, Sunday, June 2 & Monday June 3, 2013

Departing Lindenhurst Library approximately 7:30 am Sunday.
Explore Rhode Island’s wonderful cuisine and culture when you join our bus trip to Providence and Newport. First, we visit Providence, the state capital; we do a city tour by bus, and then stop in at the Museum of Art Rhode Island School of Design, with its collection of over 86,000 objects. We stay overnight at the Johnson and Wales Inn; dinner and breakfast included. On day two, we travel to Newport. Highlights include a self-guided audio tour of the Breakers Mansion, and a stopover at Bowen’s Wharf which allows for on-your-own sightseeing, shopping, visits to art galleries, and lunch at one of the many restaurants.
We depart Lindenhurst Library approximately 7:30 am Sunday, and return approximately 9:00 pm Monday.
Fees are payable by cash, check or money order to the Lindenhurst Memorial Library. You may pay a $100.00 per person deposit, with a final payment due by April 20, or pay the total amount of $235.00 per person double occupancy, and $295.00 per person single occupancy.
In-person registration is underway and all are welcome to attend.
Please note: There are no refunds unless we can replace your spot.

Ballroom with a Twist – Patchogue Theater

Ballroom with a Twist is a new dance production directed and choreographed by Dancing with the Stars own, Emmy nominated, Louis van Amstel. This ground-breaking show, featuring celebrity hosts and fabulous young dancers from So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, and High School Musical, pushes the boundaries of ballroom, infusing it with the energy and intensity of the latest styles. Further information will be forthcoming. Limited seating is available.

The library is planning a bus trip to Washington D.C. in early September of this year.
