How do I get a library card?
Residents and tax-paying non-residents of the Lindenhurst School District are entitled to a library card.
Adult patrons must present one form of ID with name proof of address:
Examples of valid ID include: driver's License, car registration or insurance card, utility bill, tax bill or property ownership bill or legitimate correspondence (examples: bank statement, credit card statement, medical statement, etc.)
Parents/guardians who would like to apply for a card for their children must present one of the same ID requirements OR present their own, valid library card as proof of residency. Library cards expire every three years.

You can apply for a temporary card online here, but you must visit the library within next 30 days to complete registration.
How Do I Place a Hold?
Visit the library CATALOG
Type in your search. Computer automatically defaults to KEYWORD. Search can be changed by clicking on an option from the left menu.
Click on the entry for complete information including call number, availability, etc.
Click on Request
Type the barcode from your library card.
Type in your PIN
Select your Pickup Location, ex: Lindenhurst
Type in any special instructions if you wish.
Click on SUBMIT.
A message should appear saying the request was successful and you will be contacted when it is available.

How to Renew Materials
Visit the library CATALOG
Click on LOGIN. (It is located on the left menu under MY ACCOUNT).
Type in the barcode found on the back of your library card.
Type in your PASSWORD/PIN (personal identification number). If this is the first time you are using this feature, you need to create a PASSWORD/PIN (4-8 letters, numbers or a combination of both). Choose something that you will be able to remember for future visits.
Click on LOGIN.
The screen will open showing information regarding your account.
There will be listing of all your materials checked-out materials.
Click the box(es) of the items to be renewed.
Scroll down and click on RENEW SELECTED or RENEW ALL
Scroll back up to verify that the due dates have changed.
Items overdue or on hold by other patrons cannot be renewed.
Lindenhurst Memorial Library materials can be renewed up to 5 times. Renewal policies vary from Library to Library. If any error messages or problems placing a request occur, please contact the Circulation Desk (631-957-7755)
How do I set up my library account password?
First time online library account users will need to create a Password before they are able to use the features of your online library account.
From the View My Patron Record screen accessed from the catalog, put in your barcode number and press Enter or click Submit.
You will be prompted to enter a Password twice.
Once the Password has been accepted, you will be immediately be logged into your account.
If there are more than five failed attempts to log in with the same barcode within one minute, the system will block access to your account for one minute.
If you have forgotten your Password, please come into the library to have a librarian reset it for you.

How do I change my SuffolkWeb Mail password?
1. Log on to SuffolkWeb mail.
2. Click on "options".
3. Click on "change password."
How to I get eBooks?
To download eBooks visit the Suffolk County Libraries Digital Branch at live-brary.com.
Please read the required software and compatible devices list. You may need to download software such as OverDrive onto your computer.

How do I Download an MP3?
Our amazing podcasts are located here.
Right click on the link to the file you wish to download.
Select "save target as" from the menu which appears.
Your computer's "save as" window will appear. Select the folder you wish to save the MP3 from the "save in" drop down menu.
Click "save" to save the MP3 to your computer. Remember to note the title of the MP3 and the place where you saved the file so you may easily access it later.
What do I need to do in order to use computer stations in the library?
Adults: A library card from Suffolk County that is in good standing will allow you access to our computers. Only patrons with cards that have not expired, and who owe less than $10 in fees have access.
Adult Non-Residents: Adult non-residents may be given guest passes upon presentation of one of the following: Library card from another county, driver’s license, or other ID with a name, address and photo.
Teens: A Teen with a Young Adult library card (Grades 9-12, under age 18) needs an adult to give to use the internet. Permission forms for Teen internet use are available at the Circulation Desk.
Children: A Lindenhurst Memorial Library children’s card in good standing is required. A child may obtain a library card beginning at one year of age.
Children’s library cards that have not expired, and who owe less than $10 in fees have access. A parent must give written permission for Internet use by the child.
Please renew your library card and pay off your fines in order to retain access to our computers.
How do I Reserve a Museum Pass?
Lindenhurst Memorial Library cardholders can make a reservation up to two months in advance by phone, online or in person at the Library. Please check the individual museum’s homepage for any closings or hour changes.
Free Museum Passes are available to Lindenhurst Memorial Library cardholders in good standing, with cards that have not expired, and who owe less than $10 in fees have access.

How to Register for Programs Online?
To register online click on the Online Calendar of Events.
All programs at the library are free unless otherwise noted.
You must register in person for programs with a fee.
Please note: It's your responsibility to remember the date and time of the program. You may telephone the library with your questions.
Please go to the Circulation Desk to get tickets for entertainment programs. A Lindenhurst Memorial Library card must be presented in order to get tickets or register.
Children's Programs
A Lindenhurst Memorial Library card must be presented in order to register for, or participate in any children's program. Registration for programs takes place at the Circulation Desk.
